My initial thought when I noticed this picture is that it was a recently discovered photo of an older Robert Johnson, the famous bluesman who, I believe, has only one (maybe two) pictures in existence.
His story is sad but awfully cool to read. I remember something in there about a crossroads rendezvous with the devil.
Now I'm quite certain that I was wrong about this pic. I'll delve deeper online, but the photograph makes this man's skin shine with a mahogany-like sheen, giving the appearance that he was molded from pristine candle wax. Come to think of it, his sad face has melted some perhaps not due to heat, but due to the rigors of a tough life.
If I was in his company, I certainly wouldn't request any songs, I'd just kick back and listen to whatever the hell he wanted to play. And I'm sure I'd learn some pretty cool—and possibly tragic—things about this man's life in the process.
